Fatal Water Overdose

Warning! One can die from drinking too much water. Please read please please please.
This post is about the dangers you could be heading to if you are
1) Into marathons or any other intense sport and
2)Have access to unlimited amount of water around you.

This fact is not new to most people. Studies, documentaries, blogs and all other type of reports have been made to reveal the dark side of the most common symbol of life….

Amazingly, knowledge of this danger doesn’t necessarily save you from becoming a victim.

Aside from the fact that many have died from this, As a runner my experience is that, there’s too much happening at the finish line that I just forget this danger.
Water is undeniably every sportsmans friend, but on the other hand water is like a loaded gun, its just waiting for you to pull the trigger. The trigger however does not give you that familiar click as well as that all familiar bang.
While there are lots of studies, scientific calculations and methods available on the net to avoid dying from excess water, here’s my own proven method of preventing it.
From my previous practice runs, I established how much water I drank. I used it as maximum limits. I’m saying limits because they vary depending on the distance you ran. I’m careful not to mention any numbers here because you have to establish what numbers are right for you.
During official races, I keep track of how much I drink by keeping in my pocket the caps of the water bottles as well as the sports drinks that I consumed during the run and after the Finish line. Then I make sure that the number of caps in my pocket does not exceed the pre-established maximum limit. This one worked for me, I hope this works for you too.
